Costa Rica's Wildlife And Paradise

A neck of land nestled calmly in between two great oceans of the Atlantic and the Pacific, Costa Rica (which means ?Rich Coast?)proudly bridges North and South America being the narrowest point in the Central American region. And this attribute of being in the middle of things transcends more than just the Costa Rican geography. It has been known to be one of the most progressive countries in the region with its booming economy boosted by an ever-growing eco-tourism industry. The Costa Rican wildlife is among the most diverse in the world, found in their swampy marshes, their lush rainforests and their serene coastlines. Strangers who visit these paradisiacal getaways never fail to appreciate the flora and fauna that is now being protected by a national conservation system which is truly envied by its neighboring countries.

People cannot help but highly admire the state of security and peace that the Costa Rican republic has attained considering the fact that its neighbors has not fared so well. While the surrounding region is afflicted with strife and civil unrest, Costa Rica has remained stable and secured politically and economically. One of the main reasons may be attributed to the fact that Costa Rica has officially abolished its military since 1948.

In view of this remarkable development, the people of Costa Rica had been able to concentrate on cultivating their natural resources and turning them into profitable eco-tourism hot spots. Up to this day, they have been unified in their efforts to conserve, preserve and protect their inimitable landscape, which is brimming with wildlife you rarely find anywhere else in the world.

Costa Rica, with its two scenic beach fronts and picturesque, pristine mountain ranges, boasts of a wide variety of species of birds and land animals. Its forests are habitat to the exceptional jaguar, the relaxed tapir and the amazing quetzal. These wonderful creatures dwell in the confines of beautiful Costa Rica, with its million-year old forests, volcano dotted landscape and high-altitude cloud-forests.

With all this to offer and much, much more, Costa Rica has become a prime eco-tourism spot, with over a million visitors annually. And with this profitable industry, the small nation in the Central American isthmus has been able to produce sufficientnecessary revenues to make them the only country in the region to have the highest rate of literacy, life expectancy, education and health care.

But Costa Rica is not only rich in its natural resources but in its culture as well. Though crowded with foreigners, year in and year out, Costa Rica retains its unique mix of Afro-Caribbean culture of its early 19th century immigrants and the sabanero cattle-herders of Guanacaste. Costa Rica?s distinct culture, its warmhearted and happy people are undoubtedly among its rich and natural wonders anyone should discover.
